Shalom Iglesia del Pacto grew out of the work of Servant Partners in San Jose. In 2014, Andy and Janet Singleterry, the SP site leaders, had been leading a bilingual Bible study for a couple years. Jairo and Lourdes Sarmiento came from Honduras to join their team and started a weekly prayer meeting. A group of Servant Partners interns were hosting a youth group at their house. Those three elements combined to form Shalom Iglesia in October of 2014, with the Sarmientos and Singleterrys as the pastoral team. We began weekly worship services a few months later. At our founding, we identified love, justice, and peace as our core values, and we do our best to follow God by living out these values in all we do.
Janet Singleterry coordinates the events and personnel of the church and usually does quite a bit behind the scenes. She loves working with elementary-age children in the congregation.
Andy Singleterry leads the congregation in training and spiritual formation through sound Biblical teaching in a variety of ways. He is passionate about the healthy relationships between people of different backgrounds.
